Travel insurance 'so important' for activity holidays
Travel insurance has been described as "so important" for activity and sporting holidays by a major tour operator.
Sports Tours, which arranges football events across Europe and the US, made the comment after research by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office found that winter sports holidays are becoming increasingly popular.
The same study also found that over a third of Britons do not take out cover to protect themselves when participating in sports while on a break abroad.
In light of the findings, Steve Dacosta, director of Sports Tours, said that travel insurance had several benefits.
"It covers you for any accident you may have while you are away. It covers a certain degree of specialist equipment in case it does get lost or stolen," he explained.
Mr Dacosta's comments have come after Malcolm Tarling, a spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers, said that holiday cover protects travellers against unforeseen events that can happen when on a trip to a foreign country.
